Hi there!

My name is Alex, and I’m your Welsh Labour Member of Parliament for Pontypridd.

I have been the MP since 2019 and in my role as your elected representative, I am able to assist you with any queries you may have ranging from support with welfare to housing, and I can also escalate enquiries to Ministers in Westminster on your behalf.

I am Pontypridd born and bred and was born in Church Village – the Welsh Valleys really do run through my blood. I spent my early years training to be an Air Cadet in Pontyclun, sang in the National Youth Choir for Wales and spent my teen years socialising with friends at Ynysyngharad Park.

I joined my local community council seven years ago because I wanted to get more involved with the local area that I know and love. From 2017-2022 I became a Local Authority Councillor, representing the area that I live in, Tonyrefail. I was first elected to represent Pontypridd in Parliament in December 2019 and am a proud and active member of Unite and the Musician’s Union.

Outside of politics I enjoy singing, sport – with rugby and wrestling being two personal favourites – and catching up with friends.

One of my biggest passions in life (alongside family and politics of course) is my love for shopping, watching sport (being Welsh, rugby is a big one in my household) and live music. Most recently I’ve been appointed as a Patron of the Tonyrefail Ladies’ Choir – a choir which I have fond memories of singing in myself!

I use my time as your Member of Parliament to focus on a range of issues that affect us locally — I have used my voice loudly and proudly to stand up for the issues that you care about most and would continue to do so if re-elected. In recent years I’ve campaigned for better flood protections for the Valleys after the devastating 2020 floods across Pontypridd and RCT, and I also campaigned successfully to prevent closure of A&E services at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital.
